Foods That Promote Gum Health: Boost Oral Health and Prevent CavitiesGums and teeth are essential to oral health, but it can be difficult to remember the foods promoting gum health. We all know about healthy fruits and vegetables, but there are also many other foods that you may not have thought of as good for your gums. We will take a look at some of these foods in this article. They include:

Brown Rice

Rice is an inexpensive food that can be eaten as a main dish or side. Brown rice has many benefits, including promoting gum health because it contains zinc and omega-three fatty acids, which help prevent inflammation in the gums.

Coconut Oil

Not only does coconut oil have antibacterial properties, but it also helps promote healthy teeth by strengthening enamel against cavity-causing bacteria. Consider using it as part of your cooking routine by substituting half the butter you would usually use for one or two tablespoons of this oil.

Cheese

Not only is cheese a delicious snack, but it also promotes healthy gums because of its high calcium content. Calcium helps to strengthen teeth and bones as well as encourage gum health. You can enjoy this food by snacking on some cheddar or adding slices on top of your salad for an added boost of flavor and nutrients!

Sugarless Chewing Gum

Suppose you feel like chewing something while at work. Look no further than sugar-free gum that contains xylitol that has been proven to reduce the risk of cavities forming in both children and adults. Sugarless gum stimulates saliva flow which washes away plaque from tooth surfaces helping to keep them clean and preventing decay. It's recommended that we chew two pieces of gum every day for about fifteen minutes to maximize the benefits we receive from this food.

Green Tea

Not only is green tea a delicious drink, but it also promotes healthy gums by inhibiting bacteria growth and stimulating saliva flow. It's recommended that you enjoy two cups of green tea daily to get its maximum benefits!

Many other foods promote gum health; these are just a few of the most common ones. By incorporating some of these into your diet, you can help keep your gums healthy and cavity-free!
