Chewing May Start to Hurt if You Have a Dental Crack You Did Not Know Of

Chewing May Start to Hurt if You Have a Dental Crack You Did Not Know OfNo one anticipates pain when they chew; that is part of the reason why it garners such strong reactions from the people who suffer from the experience. To compound these issues, other cracks in your teeth may come from the same or other issues making identifying the cause for the cracking and the treatment for the cracking complex and nuanced. Based on your wishes and professional opinion, we will develop the right treatment plan for you.

Why Do Teeth Crack?

Teeth can crack for various reasons, including continuous jaw clenching, stress grinding, chewing hard candies or food, or chronic dry mouth, which doesn't allow your teeth to live properly. Further, intense temperature changes can cause them, just as being hit in the mouth can. Teeth are often characterized as strong bones (thanks milk?), but in reality, they are often fragile bones, exposed to the open world and thus in need of protection.

What Should I Do If I Have A Cracked Tooth?

First and foremost, if you ever experience any sort of dental discomfort, you should call our office and create an appointment as early as possible. If you have a cracked tooth, continuing to use it as normal may make the pain worse or exacerbate the issues, causing increased issues like infections or aches in your ears and jaw. If we find that you have a cracked tooth, there are options available to you, as cracked teeth do not automatically mean extraction when caught early enough.

If you believe that you or someone you love is in discomfort from a cracked tooth or from a dental event, please do not hesitate to call or contact us. We will do everything we can to help resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
